House of Blues Made for a Sunny Sunday

A law-practicing FrontBurnervian planned on celebrating a wedding anniversary at the House of Blues’ Sunday Gospel Brunch, except the choir no-showed. Is she bitter? Nope. The opposite, in fact. Her tale, after the jump:

I’m spreading the word about the wonderful treatment that we received at House of Blues yesterday and I hope that you will share this with the FB Nation. My parents made reservations for the Sunday Gospel Brunch to celebrate my husband’s and my anniversary. We arrived at HOB at about 9:40 a.m. and waited in the will call line. At 9:50 a.m. the manager informed the crowd that the gospel choir wasn’t going to make it. He didn’t say exactly what went wrong (someone surmised that maybe they forgot to “spring forward”), but he sure did rush to make it right.
We received a full refund but were also invited to stay, and did stay, for brunch on the house. (No pun intended, I’m sure.) The staff managed to assemble a trio of musicians who did an impromptu gospel performance, and while it wasn’t the same as having a full gospel choir, it was spirited and fun. As we left, we were given free tickets to the upcoming Buddy Guy concert on April 17th. We also received lots of smiles and sincere apologies from every staff member we encountered.
I know it sounds cliché, but it’s rare to experience this kind of customer service anymore. The House of Blues staff handled a tough situation with a lot of finesse and compassion, and they deserve to be commended for making the best out of a potentially bad situation. They certainly garnered plenty of goodwill from our family. We’re planning to reschedule at a later date, and I’m looking forward to attending lots of other events at this fantastic venue.
