What To Do On Monday

If you’re free from 5:30-7 p.m. and have a spare $10,000 or $15,000 lying around, that is. Actually, you can get in if you only have $1,000 lying around, too. Those are some of the prices of admission to a March 10 event to “thank” Texas House Speaker Tom Craddick at the Beverly Drive home of Terry and Robert Rowling. Thank the speaker for what exactly, we’re not sure. Rowling, Forbes magazine readers know, is the Omni Hotels magnate whose fortune is estimated at $6.2 billion. Wonder if they’d take a “check.”

This is the perfect opportunity to donate money to help us Dallasites decide who should represent El Paso, Lubbock, Longview, Beaumont, etc. in Austin. I can’t think of a worthier cause.

Am I correct to assume Marty Cortland will be there?

Rumor has it that Marty Cortland will be volutneering his extra time teaching English Composition 101 and directing the debate team at TSU.

More than likely Marty will send his wife to represent on his behalf. She’s better dressed anyway.

Who wouldn’t want to thank Tom Craddick for being the worst Speaker in the past 30 years? And fork over $10,000 in the meantime? I guess we should expect that Mr. Rowling has a specific wish that only a highly partisan, in the pocket of special interests, House Speaker can grant.

Sorry, I’ve already committed that evening to the Kidd Craddick $9.95 benefit fund for kids w/o tricked-out Converse tennies at billionaire J.K. Rowling’s Farmers Branch estate. Who knew we had two Rowling billionaires in the area?

And I’m sure it won’t cause any traffic problems on Beverly Drive at the RUSH HOUR!!
Maybe they could be routed along Mockingbird!

Oh! I hope the younger eligible bachelor son will be there! He’s gorgeous! What a catch!
