Leading Off

1. The snow skirted Dallas proper, but hit hard west and north of town. Dallas and Collin counties are under a snow advisory until midday, which is a technical way of saying “the TV stations would like to stretch this out a few hours longer, for ratings purposes.”

2. Dirk was suspended last night against the Rockets. This did not, repeat, did not, lead to a victory.

3. Maybe I’ve seen the opening 10 minutes of Lost one time too many, but I think it’s kind of a big deal that Southwest Airlines is being fined more than $10 million for not immediately grounding jets that had cracks in them. Especially since there are allegations that FAA inspectors were asked to keep quiet about it. Murmur, and developing.

There was solid snow on the ground when I left my house at 6:15 a.m. in Lower Greenville / M Streets area. It was patchy in spots, it hadn’t stuck at all to the concrete, but I mean, hey. It wasn’t frost or ice or accumulated freezing rain: People, it was snow.

It could be gone by now, for all I know.

    Things that strain credulity

Dallas County Constable running a radar trap southbound Plano Road between DART line and Royal Lane…. on a morning like this aren’t there better ways to spend the taxpayer’s dollars or is that JP district just trying to get the quota of tickets out of the way early this month?

    2 words: global warming

Nah … it’s Texas’ cosmic joke to snow in March. And it’s always following several days or weeks of warm weather. It’s simply too warm to let much of this stick and do much damage - plus we all drive too much to let it sit and freeze up.

I’m not saying global warming isn’t happening, I’m just saying that in this case, this is just a normal Texas thing. It snows in March, and in a few days, we’ll be flipping the thermostat back to AC.

Drew, if a kid down the street died of a childhood disease, would you dispute that our collective lifespan is increasing?

I, for one, have no desire to see this snow and ice mess stick around longer. (although it did give me something to talk about!)

True dat, Bethany. And, don’t forget, sometimes it snows in April. Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad.

Back home, I remember how my mom, around the end of March or so, would put up all the winter clothes and pull out the spring clothes. It was a weekend affair of trying on things to see what still fit, what would be passed down, who would get a shopping trip, huge loads of laundry…

Now, I just take up two closets and layer a lot.

Because I don’t know who to email specifically, can someone please tell me if it’s just my computer or is the formatting totally jacked up on FrontBurner if you’re running in IE?? It works fine on my computer at home where I use Firefox. It’s making my brain hurt.

CDD — It happened to me on Tuesday but is mysteriously back to normal now. I use Safari for Mac.
