These tight numbers wil only increase turnout tomorrow, and civic particpation is always good even it might sometimes give me a headache (just kidding, I LOVE helping the public vote!)

As a longtime election clerk, may I please request the patience of voters tomorrow!? Because of the expected high turnout, and so many never even having voted in a primary before, we’ll probably have a lot of voters who are not “the perfect voter”–i.e. who don’t have their voter certificate with them, who have moved, who are showing up at the wrong precinct, etc. These folks will delay things because we can’t process them as quickly.

If you can lay your hands on your card, please bring it. having your card, which will be stamped by the clerk when you vote, will also help speed up checkin at the precinct conventions.
Please take one minute to look up your polling place at http://www.dalcoelections.org or your local county elections website before you assume that the school across the street is the place you vote. Primary voting locations are often different from those used in general elections ’cause we need twice as many places.

Every election, there is someone that comes only at the very last minute to the wrong polling place, does not have time to get to the proper polling place and thus forfeits his franchise for that election because he did not inform himself in advance.

    Do not be that voter!

    Be the perfect voter!

PLEASE look up your polling place online tonight and bring your card tomorrow. The current Dallas County voter certificate is peach-colored.

    All election workers thank you!

    Caucus question:
I’ve already early voted in the primary and only have to caucus tomorrow. I understand that it begins at 7:15 pm, but is there a closing time? Or does everyone just show up at 7:15 and stand in line? I can’t seem to find any solid info regarding that portion of the day.

better show up at 6:45…….Hillary’s plan is to lock out the Obamaians

And I always vote with my D.L. Sorry nmlhats!

The precinct convention at each precinct polling place begins 15 minutes after the polls close. Now, technically speaking, the polls close at 7pm so that would mean 7:15 start time if there were no voters remaining in line. This is to give election workers time to shut down the polling place and attend the precinct convention themselves ;-)

BUT as you may or may not know, ANYONE IN LINE AT 7PM MUST BE ALLOWED TO VOTE. At 7pm, according to the timepiece of the election judge, we may a) bring everyone in line inside the building if they will fit; b) place an election worker at the end of the line at 7pm to clarify where the end of the line is, if it cannot fit inside; or c) distribute numbers to the voters in line at 7pm so that it is clear exactly who was in line at that time.

AFTER the people in line at 7pm have all voted–and it could be 7pm if there’s no line, or it could be a lot later depending on turnout and how down to the last minute voters show up–THEN we can close the polling place officially.

15 minutes after THAT the precinct convention can begin. There is no telling how long it will take, and there may be wrangling over rules & stuff. It could take minutes or hours.

You should assume a 7:15 start just in case but don’t be surprised if it’s later. You’ll need to be there on time.

    Hope that helps!

No biggie, d.o. if you vote with DL. But you’d make it easier on your precinct convention if you had your card. Otherwise the precinct chair or convention secretary are going to have to look you up again in the poll book to ascertain that you voted, if you don’t have your stamped card to show for it.

Come on, you only got it in December, haven’t used it yet but already lost it!?

At least make sure you go to the right polling place–they do vary for the primaries so don’t assume it’s where you last voted in a general election.

I imagine the lines will be pretty long tomorrow, seeing as how I was in line to early vote at about 6:30 last Friday and was still standing in said line well after 7pm. I’m going to have to figure out what to do tomorrow as I have a scheduling issue… online voting sure would make life easier right about now…

    Is this great or what?

Think about it. Wednesday at school the kiddos will invariably be talking about their parents talking about the election

The kiddos without stories about takeout because mom and dad were tied up for so long voting, well, think fashion D fans.

Well, we did have two weeks to vote early!

The polls open at 7am if you can vote in the early morning. There will be a lint then, too, but usually not as long as the end of the day. The slowest times are about 10:00am to 11:30am and then 1:00pm to 3:30pm.
