Kidd Kraddick Is an “Elfin” Multimillionaire

In the March issue of GQ, Alex Pappademas wrote about his visit to a radio convention. The story isn’t online. But it includes a scene wherein Pappademas met Kraddick. The takeaway? Pappademas described Kidd as “elfin,” said he wears “fancy laceless John Varvatos Converses,” and reported that when he asked Kidd if he was a millionaire, Kidd’s response was: “Oh — multi.” I guess we already knew that, though. Except for the part about the Converses, which I had to look up to know what Pappademas was talking about.

So I guess I’m supposed to take from this that Alex is a “Hip” Pappademas?

Tip: If ever ambushed by GQ and the story is not about “killer khakis”, be sure to avoid all nuances of speech and say only precisely what you mean. Attempts at sarcasm or irony (followed by obvious eye-rolling and laughter) will be stripped down to their bare literal translation to portray you as the biggest tool possible. So if asked if you’re a millionaire and you smile, roll your eyes and say, “multi”, expect said writer to suffer a complete loss of understanding of sarcasm, irony, and humor. It’s like being interviewed by Joe Friday on Dragnet. “Just the facts, ma’em.”

Careful using phrases like, “If I told you that, I’d have to kill you,” because you must assume that the writer implausibly BELIEVES with all his heart that you really WOULD kill him.

    What’s worse?

    A) Being deemed an “elfin multimillionaire” by a magazine that also tells you it’s a sin to not wear an undershirt…or…

    B) Being deemed “a fearless writer” despite displaying mounds of fear when mock-threatened by a 145 pound “corporate slickster”?

Rhetorical quiz only. Grade won’t go towards graduation.
