Bill Clinton Campaigns In Dallas…To 200 People

Considering Obama’s rally last week at Reunion, isn’t this kind of embarrassing?

“You agree we need more jobs?” Mr. Clinton asked a crowd of about 200 people gathered Tuesday morning near an early voting station at Dallas’ Grauwyler Park, where he campaigned on behalf of his wife.

With unemployment at about 4% (historically very, very low) for Dallas - this was apparently a Job-seeker meeting. For the Speaker and attendees.

I can’t believe that Bill is letting himself be “pimped out” by Hillary like this. Jeez.

Mantooth, speak not ill of the apostle Bill lest they get riled up againm

Hmm. It’s my understanding that, nationwide, employment levels are the one unsullied bright spot in our economy — may even prove its saving grace. And Dallas has always had job creation out the wazoo.

I’m no Bill fan, but I must say, I’m not accustomed to hearing him be tone-deaf. Has Willie lost his slickness? Weird.

Is anyone hanging around Grauwyler Park in the middle of the afternoon going to answer “no” to that question?

  • Rawlins

I caught him later at Mountain View College (one hour late) and the turnout was better. But trust me, he knows the shouting is all but over. I was able to shake his ex-presidential hand afterward which isn’t something one does every day in Dallas. Sue me.

PS: Daniel, at that park, he was, ugh, speaking to laborers who have lost their jobs building middle America’s houses. Just south of me, in Southeast Dallas, the downturn and freeze on those developments has filled the parks with stay at home suddenly Dads. Grauwyler Park is one epicenter of the Hispanic fringe. This massive subculture is not something everyone interacts with or sees in the course of their Dallas life. I do. Trust me. If houses are not selling, then others are not being built unless it’s already begun and in upscale areas.

Well, it’s a good thing there are plenty of other jobs Rawlins.

    Mark -

I have a job (no, really) but would like to properly pay tribute to your brilliance. What’s the going rate to wash your car, shine your shoes, or polish your athletic trophies?

You may already have those covered so maybe we should just go down to Grauwyler Park and yell Get a Job (or consiga un trabajo) on our lunch break. That would be muy bueno!!

  • mark cahill

    Doug,

You’re correct - my car, shoes and trophies are fine. While there are some exceptions, anyone can survive and even thrive in America.

If you are suggesting our lunch will be with immigrants (illegal or not) they don’t need our encouragement - they work. They understand. But, since you are apparently bi-lingual let’s help them with English. Deal?

  • Daniel

Rawlins, my neighborhood is a far, far cry from lily-white (Ross & Live Oak area), but thanks for the clarification.

Word also has it that illegal immigration is down. Maybe this is due to the recent spate of enforcement efforts — in much the same way that the War on Drugs all but eradicated drugs from American streets — but more likely it is due to the economic climate of the construction sector, no?
