Gary Busey Practiced His Weirdo Act in Dallas

tim-and-megan-img_7061.jpgHollywood’s accustomed to Gary Busey acting weird–happened again Sunday–but Dallas has experienced it, too. In fact, according to hosts Tim Ryan and Megan Henderson (at left), the actor is an all-time least-favorite guest on Fox4’s Good Day morning program. (Others with that dubious distinction: Lauren Bacall, Peter Fonda, Loretta Swit.) During an interview with TV critic Ed Bark at Stratos Greek Taverna Saturday, Ryan and Henderson recalled how Busey was supposed to sing one Elvis song on Good Day before the show broke for a commercial. Instead, the out-there thespian plunged into a second song right after the first … and then a third after the second. Finally, the director simply faded to black. “Afterwards,” Ryan recalled, “Busey was so swacked, he said, ‘Listen, I know what you were trying to do, but I think what I did was much better television.’ “

I lost respect for Mr. Busey after he did that Turkish movie “Valley of the Wolves: Iraq.” In it he played a Jewish doctor at Abu Gharib who harvests the organs of Iraqi prisoners and sells them in Tel Aviv and New York. Yet, he received no condemnation for anyone in the media elite. Evn after all the media elite hemmed and hawed over the Anti-Semitism of Mel Gibson’s movie “The Passion of the Christ.”

  5. Let’s not pretend to know someone based on a few minutes before a camera. If the other least-favorite guests are Lauren Bacall, Peter Fonda, and Loretta Swit, I’d say he’s in good company.

  6. Gary Busey sat on me at Terilli’s on Greenville one night when he was drunk and missed his booth. It was a little like having a Sentra (fully loaded) drop upon you. But I dare say, judging from his condition, a Sentra would perform better.
