Wick
We can not allow this sort of communism to take over our city. Dick and Lynne Cheney are in town today for the National Hate Symposium. I suggest that we all attend so we can nip this liberal acceptance in the bud. Our country will falter if we allow
sinners and atheist into the White House.
Dick will stand up today.

Wick--
I think your wife hit got it right in her Saturday DMN editorial. I am a lifelong Republican who will vote in the Democratic primary, and may vote for a Democrat in November. Republicans are not staying home-- they are looking to Democrats to offer real leadership after the abandonment of true Republican principles. The Clintons are the Democrat counterpart to Carl Rove. Obama offers a message of hope for the future by building coalitions, rather than splintering off groups until you are the last one standing. I do not know if Obama can deliver -- he will have to surround himself with some honest, knowledgeable and experienced people and listen to them. (George Bush was not able to do this.) But given the choices, it is a chance I am willing to take.

Kirk - I dislike John McCain with a passion. I'm not trying to spin anything, I just don't think the "straight-ticket" republicans have anything to lose/gain until November.

Now, do you honestly believe right-wing conservative repubs are going to sit at home & not vote against a woman or a black man when it matters? They will turn out, the real question is how many "new" voters have mixed their pitcher of Obama Kool-Aid.

Dems were outpolling Repubs two and three to one even in the very first primaries when both nominations were still in play. Since Obama's popularity has caught on, he's been wining primaries by more than the total of all Republican candidates COMBINED. In fact, if you look back, this is the case for every state he has won.

There is more afoot here than a few Repubs crossing over, and it doesn't bode well for the Repubs national chances, no matter how well they turn out this fall.

The increase in the Democratic primary numbers isn't the story. It's the doubling and tripling of Republican primary voters that leads to a tru insureection

Don't believe for a minute that all the Repub voters in the Dem primaries are just "stirring the pot." At the Dem meetings in Denton county, we've been getting quite a few people who walk in, look around sheepishly, and then whisper to someone who comes to welcome them that they've "voted republican all my life, but I'm votin' for the Obama feller."

I'd say folks are reading WAY too much into the early voting and overall primary totals this year. Let's face it, the Republican race is over. The Democrats have a hot race. It's that simple. I suspect the Democratic primary will have more voters than the Republican primary in most counties. This is not a harbinger of things to come in the fall.

I think so many people feel disenfranchised as George W. Bush is not able to serve another term. We were lioned up and ready to roar for Huckabee/Jesus at my local Baptist Church. We do have a choice, a choice between someone who believes in a man's right to dominate his wife (hell yeah) or a man who feels it is okay to dominate his lobbyist. I don't feel McCain is conservative enough to lead this country in our 100 year war with Iraq. This is why we must unite. Onward Christian Soilders..marching on to the war on culture.

I wonder...are these cross-over Republicans becoming Obamacans (similar to Reagan Democrats) or are they just "stirring the spot?"
