Those playing along at home know that our photographer, Elizabeth Lavin, is down in Honduras photographing open-heart surgeries (and other stuff). In her last dispatch, we met 7-year-old Eduardo, who had a hole in his heart. Below, and image from his surgery. After the jump, a little something from Elizabeth.
Long days. I’m trying to go and see patients’ homes. I hired a cab yesterday to go about 20 minutes away. The cab broke down twice on the way back to the hotel. First time it was outside of the house of where the family was staying. Luckily the father of the girl I was photographing was a mechanic. The second time it was in the middle of this crazy Central American neighborhood. I looked out my window and a goat walked by.
I spent yesterday in the mountains. It was gorgeous. I’m trying to stay focused on the story, but there are so many cool things to shoot. I want to rent a car and wander around.
Anyway, what cigars do you like?
Wow. Elizabeth never ceases to amaze me.
Did you get a HIPPA release on that picture?
Amanda, learn to spell HIPAA.
Jack, sorry, I was typing on a crackberry in the rain on the curvy part of Preston in a school zone. Maybe you can learn to lighten up.
Elizabeth this is a truely amazing shot! Please send goat pictures. Goats are funny.
Elizabeth, I can get you the gingerbread syrup if you still want it. e-mail me.
