The Guy Who Wrote the Book That About Schmidt Was Based On is Coming to Town

Louis Begley is the next writer to participate in The Writer’s Garrett’s “Inside the Writer’s Studio” series, on February 19 at Theatre Three. You may know him from such books as the one I mentioned in the headline of this post and not, as it turns out, from his work on St. Elsewhere and saving the environment. Full release after the jump.

The Writer’s Garret presents The Writers Studio
for its exciting sixth season

D Magazine says, “Fact: Literary readings can be boring. Another fact: The Writers Studio . . . is anything but.”

Inspired by Bravo’s “Inside the Actors Studio,” the Writers Studio brings to Dallas the world’s most accomplished writers for an intimate look at their work. Upcoming authors for 2008 include Louis Begley, Kimberla Lawson Roby, and Louise Erdrich. Past authors from the 2007-2008 season include Ann Patchett and Mary Gordon.

The Writers Studio is both an event and an educational experience. Hosts Randy Gordon, Catherine Cuellar, and Kim Malcolm ask questions that give the audience insight into the life and art of being a writer. Audience members may ask questions as well. Episodes are taped before a live theatre audience for radio broadcast on KERA and NPR affiliates.

Each writer appears for one night only at Dallas’s Theatre Three or the Eisemann Center in Richardson. Reserve your seats at Theatre Three by calling (214) 871-3300, option #1, or go to www.theatre3dallas.com. For tickets at the Eisemann Center, call (972) 744-4650, or go to www.eisemanncenter.com.
