Plugging the PLUG Awards

Each year, the PLUG Independent Music Awards acts as sort of counterpart to the Independent Spirit Awards for film. The 2008 installment happens March 6 in New York, and voting is still underway here. Local angle? Jump!

Chris Cantalini is nominated twice (sort of); his essential MP3 blog Gorilla vs. Bear is up for Music Blog of the Year, and the Sirius Radio show he contributes to, Blog Radio, got a nod in the Specialty Show of the Year category. Also up for Specialty Show of the Year is the defunct (for now, at least) The Adventure Club, hosted by Josh Venable. St. Vincent’s “Jesus Saves, I Spend” is a nominee for Music Video of the Year.

PLUG Award nominees were decided on by a wide-ranging, and very cool, panel of, well, a lot of folks. Maybe 300 people. They’ve got cred, and it’s a pretty legit looking list. The local contingent is up against at lot of deserving acts/shows.

OK…that’s it. Go vote.
