D Beauties Have Something to “Yawp” About

If MySpace and Facebook aren’t touchy-feely enough for you, maybe Yawp Box is your ideal virtual pulpit. The Dallas-based website aims to connect people through shared life experiences using video, photos, and journal entries. (Topics up for discussion right now include “Have you ever pimped your ride?”, “Share what it’s like to be stranded,” and “Tell us about the day your life went wrong.” Um, ouch.) If you’d prefer to restrict your experience sharing to attractive people, Yawp Box is hosting a launch reception tomorrow at LIFT Lounge featuring admissions—Worst Breakup, Most Embarrassing Moment, Worst Habit—from D Beauty’s 10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas. (See just-edited, behind-the-scenes video from the 10 Most Beautiful shoot here.) Proceeds benefit Genesis Women’s Shelter. Jump for the full rundown.

Winners of “10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas” Contest Yawp For a Cause

DALLAS (January 14, 2008) - BrusterPowers, LLC recently announced the launch of YawpBox.com, an online social networking site that connects people through the sharing of common experiences. A private reception recognizing the web site’s launch is being held at LIFT Lounge on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 from 6 - 8 p.m. The reception will benefit the Genesis Women’s Shelter.

“We are extremely excited about the successful launch of YawpBox.com and believe that it will serve as a great tool for making connections and providing support for people throughout the community,” said Jay Powers co-founder of YawpBox.

The YawpBox reception is an entertaining event being held to celebrate the premier of its new online social networking site, while benefiting the Genesis Women’s Shelter, a Dallas-based, nonprofit organization that provides emergency shelter, in-house food and clothing for battered women and their children. Highlights of the event will include the official introduction of the YawpBox team, a brief overview and presentation of the YawpBox concept and great giveaways for attendees. Additionally, to demonstrate the YawpBox concept of sharing life experiences and getting to know the person behind the picture and profile, selected winners of DBeauty magazine’s “10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas,” contest will share interesting details about their life experiences. In an entertaining interview style format conducted by Lex Staley and Terry Jaymes of the nationally syndicated, Lex & Terry Morning Show and future host of YawpBox TV, the women will speak on topics featured on YawpBox.com that include:

· “Your Best Deed”

· “Your Worst Break Up”

· “Your Worst Habit”

· “Your Most Embarrassing Moment”

Additionally, attendees of the launch reception will have the opportunity to enter the “YawpBox Confessional,” a designated area for the sharing of a humorous experience to be recorded and uploaded to YawpBox.com. All proceeds raised during this “Yawp For Your Cause” portion of the evening will be donated to the Genesis Women’s Shelter. YawpBox.com, is a web 2.0 social networking web site that unites people through the sharing of common experiences. Yawpers, a term referencing YawpBox users, are able to create personal profiles documenting personal events. These life experiences are creatively expressed through the use of photos, video, audio and journal entries. Other Yawpers are then able to view the profiles and leave comments about their own similar situations. These online correspondences result in “yawp connections” in which Yawpers exchange tips, suggestions, future aspirations and most commonly, just a good laugh. YawpBox.com also connects Yawpers through its extensive gaming technology. The site features an array of computer games, making it a haven for Yawpers to meet and engage in friendly competition.
