Belo Announcement TK

A well-connected FrontBurnervian sends along this query:

Something big is going down this afternoon at Belo/DMN. Emails went out this morning telling everyone of an announcement this afternoon. Any idea?

I guessed that it might be more detail about the Yahoo!-Belo partnership. But that’s admittedly a bad guess. Anyone know anything?

Update: As the commenter pointed out, the announcement was in regards to the previously announced spin-off of the paper. (The board approved it.) A bit of a relief for many, I bet.

    An ingenious device that will allow readers to pass a feline-shaped device over the printed newspage that will miraculously allow the reader to connect to a story on the internets . . . . oh wait . . . that would necessitate laying off another 100 or so employees….

    unfortunately for my former employers… that thing is only on about the third of its nine lives…… the Dealey heirs will suffer that feline curse upon their empire for generations to come.

    Turns out it’s just about the Belo spinoff being approved and what the stockholders’ deal will be. Sigh of relief!
