Josh Venable is L.A. Bound
I can’t tell you exactly where, since I’m not sure the person about to be replaced has been made aware of the situation yet. But in early January, Josh Venable — former KDGE DJ, host of The Adventure Club, and, on a less newsworthy note, my best friend — will take over a shift for a station in Los Angeles. There was a sort-of going-away shindig last night at Barley House, where Josh has been DJing on and off on Sundays for a bit. Am I tired this morning? I am.
If you weren’t there, you can say your goodbyes on December 30, when Josh’s Bruce Springsteen and the E Street tribute band (born as Nightmare on E Street for a couple of Halloween gigs, and known for this show as Miracle on E Street) plays Barley House, along with a Guided by Voices cover band featuring members of American Werewolf Academy and Peter Schmidt. And the answer is yes, you can buy me a drink.

Hmm. He seems more fitting for KROQ in L.A. but tt’d sure be great if he’d replace that Ryan Secrest dork.
I think that show is actually on New Year’s Eve. And Guided By Vices will rock you so hard you’ll forget all about how much you wanted to brush Rhett Miller’s hair that night.
It was, Noah, but it was moved up a few days because someone is renting out the bar on NYE.
Huh. I guess Rhett rented it out for his hair.

If you don’t Sack of Kittens someone from the Edge soon, either on this blog or better yet- in the print edition, I will consider you a half-friend of said Venable. Conflict of interest aside, your insights into the workings of this giant beast are sought. Not since the days of Wick Allison has there been a controlling entity so out of touch with it’s desired demographic.
I am sure that Egress is still trying to pull themselves out from under a table somewhere near College Station.

Am I crazy or is Josh back on the job at the Edge 6-midnight? He speaks of Dallas on the show, so it’ not syndicated. Then he’s on 98.7 in LA 4-9pm too…what’s going on? I’m so confused!!!
