Did the Dodgers know of Koufax's needs prior to hiring him? I'm guessing there was an established pattern.

I don't know...but if I had a day I absolutely couldn't work, I'd mention it prior to being hired.

Not to mention, it doesn't just require Saturdays off. It also means she has to get home before sunset on Friday. Have you seen how dark it gets lately? Does that mean when winter hits, she gets to leave work early, too?

Let's respect this person's religious beliefs. If the Brooklyn/LA Dodgers respected Sandy Koufax's wishes on which days he could not pitch (one of those days was the opening game of the 1965 World Series), I think the City of Dallas could do the same. Besides she can work on Sundays when I would guess those of other religions would like off.

I'm no lawyer, but wouldn't the city be able to reduce the chances of this happening again if they a)said that the particular position required Saturday hours in the job listing, and b) also had such information included in the job description?
