Just got an e-mail from Brett Shipp, and I’d have to say that the three things he’s NOT thankful for are:
That said, I told him I’d be happy to post his response, should he want me to do so. Other than that, we’re pretty much winding down for the holiday here. Have a very Cowboys-y Thanksgiving, and we’ll see you Monday.

I’ll certainly listen to what Brett has to say….November Sweeps end when?
Eric, you are way out of line. I don’t care when the kid got the 50 - it never should have been changed to a 73. It’s that kind of idiocy that has caused folks to give us these damn standardized tests. The kid got a 50 and it shouldn’t have been changed - extra credit or not. The fact that you see nothing wrong with this tells me that you are one of the many who have given up and are willing to accept lower standards for our kids. Shame on you. Also, shame on you for trashing Brett Shipp’s work on this story. It seems pretty above board to me - and I’m not even a big fan of the guy.
It’s never out of line to question a reporters conclusions - especially about over the top reporting during sweeps. From what I’ve seen (and I haven’t seen it all) Brett has consistently gone too far with his stories during this sweeps period. While that could probably be said of most stations and most reporters, I’ve been surprised that it’s come from Brett. He’s too good for this sort of thing - hope he reverts to form after sweeps.
So do we get to read Brett’s e-mail response to you, Eric? I noticed that he had a follow-up story tonight, but I didn’t care enough to watch the whole thing.
