Celebrity chef Dean Fearing, who has more pairs of cowboy boots than Ty Murray ever thought about, now has one more pair–thanks to the brand-new Pinto Ranch store at NorthPark Center. Fearing’s being presented there today with a new pair of $1,600 Lucchese boots–the pointy kind you can kill cockroaches in corners with–because, well, because he’s Dean Fearing and he likes to wear cowboy boots. Learned this last night when Houston-based Pinto opened its doors for a private bash benefiting Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. The upscale store (second floor, not far from Neiman’s) sells not only spiffy western togs, but horse tack and custom-made saddles. One working the big crowd last night was fashion-designer Manuel Cuevas Jr., son of the famous Nashville tailor Manuel, who’s outfitted everybody from Johnny Cash to Dwight Yoakam. Manuel Jr. was there because his own trendy line of rock/country duds–with headquarters in Frisco, if you can believe it–will be sold at Pinto Ranch.
