A loyal FBvian takes issue with Wick’s analysis:
- 6,243 “new” voters did not turn out – that would assume that all the “old” voters voted again, and just as they did a decade ago.
- If I recall correctly, I received more mailers and saw more advertisements from the NO camp than the YES camp. Additionally, the DMN was their own, opposing propoganda machine; saying the Dallas Observer ’s efforts 1.) brought all the “new” voters, and 2.) failed in a vacuum, is specious.
- Precinct results show a stronger show of support from East Dallas. I’d also expect stronger Observer readership in those same areas. I suspect a correlation.
Congratulations to Wick for the win, but let’s be gracious and not gloat, especially through such poor thinking. Now, go build a park and a toll road.
