Election Results: Proposition 10 (Regrettably) Approved

In case the Trinity talk has blinded you to yesterday’s real issue, I point out that Prop 10, the constitutional amendment to abolish the constitutional authority of the inspector of hides an animals, passed. It is a sad day for those of us who happen to think our hides need inspecting every now and then. I’m considering gathering signatures for a referendum. I’ve already got a new campaign slogan: “Hide Sight Is NOT 20/20.”

I just want to thank DMN writer Eric Aasen for his mini-profile of the current inspector Jeff McMeans. Aasen gives a bit more background on the office than I have the past couple of days, including a Web site I wish I’d known about earlier so I could have given it more publicity: Votenoprop10.org. In particular, I love this part of the story, which is near the end of it, so, you know, spoiler alert: Mr. McMeans, 42, ran for county hide and animal inspector because he figured it would earn him name recognition if he were to run for another office someday. Some years, he faced opponents, including a magician. But Mr. McMeans never lost a race. [...]
