I have to confess that this morning at the polls, hunkered over that plastic voting booth, with my black pen in hand, I was conflicted. All these months of heated debate, and I still didn’t feel confident casting my vote one way or the other. It’s such a complicated issue, and so much is at stake. So I closed my eyes and just started darkening oval, which one I didn’t know, letting the Fates decide. When I opened my eyes, I saw that I’d voted yes on Proposition 10, “to abolish the constitutional authority for the office of inspector of hides and animals.”
It felt good to participate in our democracy.
