  1. I saw this one http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/101807dnmetlucky.1808f6011.html in the DMN and immediately knew why they ran it. But the online version seems to be missing the last sentence: “And in other news, Angela Hunt clubbed some baby seals while Jim Schutze maced Mother Theresa.”

  2. Same as every Friday, what local music are people going to see. Lots of great shows this w/end;

    The Fort Worth Modern has an absolutely fantastic lineup. Local favorite Doug Burr, who just released his 2nd cd, playing with Denton’s Mom and St. Vincent.

    Tonight at the Cavern, Somebody’s Darling, the Felons and Sidekick Mafia.

    Tomorrow at Granada: legendary lineup, for a benefit honoring Carter Albrecht: Sorta, Old 97’s, Chris Holt and The Slack, Salim Nourallah, and more.

    People seldom promote local music which is a shame, because all of these acts are first rate.

  3. Ditto on the event at The Modern tonight. I would go… if I wasn’t driving down to Austin for Maker Faire (http://makerfaire.com/). Sorry DFW, I’m a traitor.

  4. Re: Music this weekend. Don’t forget Ryan Adams & The Cardinal at McFarlin tonight. I’m hoping he isn’t “in a mood” and is willing to play a whole set.

  5. Antique fair out in the country this weekend at a lavender farm north of the city. See the story in today’s DMN…

    OK so I wrote the piece, but it’s a nice, quirky place worth checking out, and the note about the event this weekend is sort of buried.

  6. We need an update on that angry donut-buying, car-defending, crazy-macing woman! Gotta have it!

  8. @Sean (and a ton of other people): The macing story is pretty much dead. Nikki gave up trying to track the woman down — which I totally supported. (I mean, she got maced the first time; what would happen the second time around?) The cops said they couldn’t do much once everyone had left the scene anyway. So, story over. Continue getting donuts. Should be OK.
