If you were too lazy to follow the link of Trey’s first item on his Leading Off post, the man who shot the burglar says his pet Mexican Red-headed parrot, Salvador, is the reason he knew a prowler was about. Salvador said, “Hello, hello,” waking owner Dennis Baker from a “dead sleep.” Not surprisingly, the story got picked up elsewhere, including a playful quote from the shooter.

“I guess you could call him a stool pigeon,” owner Dennis Baker told the Dallas Morning News.

I couldn’t find the stool pigeon quote on the DMN’s site, so I sent a note to reporter Kimberly Durnan, who said it’s an accurate quote that was in an earlier version.
