While walking my dog at about 9 p.m. on Friday, I passed a DART bus parked in front of the old Stephen J. Hay school, which was recently designated as a Texas Landmmark. The motor was running, the headlights and interior lights were on, and two passengers sat quietly on board. The woman bus driver lay prone on the median strip of grass near the open door. “Are you all right?” I asked. “Just chillin’,” came the reply. “Takin’ my break.”
