Correction: Income of D Mag Reader

Last week, I gave out some erroneous information about the average income of a D Magazine reader. Robert Davila, vice president of research for Texas Monthly, was quick to spot the mistake and request a correction. So here tis.

I stated that the average income of a D reader is $227,400. Not true. That’s the average income of a D subscriber — a smaller, more affluent subgroup of total readers. The universe of D readers includes newsstand buyers and, presumably, the less affluent people who visit the homes of those newsstand buyers and pick up the magazine from their coffee tables. When you look at that larger group, the average income drops to $96,984 (median is $83,858).

I regret the error.
