I think what Gary Griffith and Sheffie Kadane are talking about regarding the area around the spillway sounds great. I doubt it’ll ever happen. But it does sound great. I drive through there every morning, and yeah, redevelopment (or even just development) would be welcome.
But look at that DMN story. There’s nothing there. There is a poll from the Forest Hills Homeowners Association. I get the newsletter because I live there. For one thing, not everyone in the neighborhood belongs to the organization. I’d estimate membership somewhere in the 20-30 percent range, based on the addresses listed. Also, the people who respond to the stuff the FHHA sends out are … what’s a good way to say this? … let’s see … delusional? Yeah, that works.
Beyond that, there is little more than Griffith’s optimism, some homeless talk, and discussion of the new bike bridge. Which absolutely fires me up. I always say the one thing we need more of — cutting through the residential streets, almost getting hit by my car because they don’t respect the rules of the road, slowing Saturday/Sunday traffic near the spillway to a crawl — is more bikers. Awesome!
