A self-identified grumpy FBvian who read my slight against socialized transportation (aka Big Transit) takes me to task and takes the whole thing a step further. Comes after the jump.
Honestly, I feel like I am funding and being charitable to all of Arlington. Living in Dallas, I know that tax payers pay a lot to build freeways to allow folks in Arlington to come, one at a time, to there jobs in Dallas. Fair enough, we want business, we want our coworkers to be able to get to work I like to be able to go to Arlington too. they pay too and if these citizens buy something in the DART service area, a penny to the dollar goes to fund the system.
We roll our eyes and feel bad for those complaints about “how bad the traffic is, this commute sucks, how can you stand living so close to your job”.no so great for business and the health of our commuting friends. Some cities outside of the service area of our transportation systems have begun to step up, by funding networks to connect into the network. Thats great, though the cost of a ticket does little to help pay for the pain of overloaded trains and buses for local commuters down line. But a massive city that promotes ther identity as a city, between to large metro areas, should be ashamed for not attempting to provide something besides using a freeway, personal vehicle or cab (lol, thats going to work) to go a few miles to get to work. Or allow folks to come to there sporting events.I really am becoming a grumpy ahole.
