Even More Charley Pride Greatness

A lovely and talented FBvian adds to the now-80-percent-legitimate Charley Pride oral history we have going with this:

He goes to Rangers spring training usually every year and works out with the team. One year while I was covering spring training, I walked in the clubhouse one morning and found it quiet (which is a rare thing) except for this awesome voice. All of the players were sitting around listening to Charley play the guitar and sing Marty Robbins’ “Out in the West Texas Town of El Paso.”  He then followed up with “Kiss an Angel Good Morning.” He was using one of the player’s guitars and he sounded AMAZING. He’s one of those rare artists that sounds better in person. He so rocks!
