Skip Murphy Gives In To Inevitable Annoyance At Kids’ Music

skip-murphy.JPGAcknowledging that he’s too big, smooth, and sexy to spin T-Pain anymore, K104’s Skip Murphy is moving to sister station KRNB 105.7 to do afternoon drive. (Skip Cheatham will take his place.) If you don’t know how big this is, you don’t know anything about radio. Fifteen years ago, Skip Murphy had the absolutely impossible task of replacing one of the biggest legends in all of radio, Tom “Flyjock” Joyner. He not only succeeded, he spent most of those years on top, as K104 was consistently No. 1 in the local ratings for listeners 18 and older. He is also one of the nicest, most decent “stars” I’ve ever interviewed. For those who are wondering, Chris Arnold, Sam Putney, and the rest of the gang will stay on. G-Spook and CoCo Budda will be taking over Cheatham’s afternoon spot. Okay, that last part I copied straight from the press release. I’ll admit that.
