EDDIE BERNICE KEEPS A STIFF UPPER LIP
The anti-Trinity claque is having a field day with Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson’s comment that a referendum wouldn’t have any impact on federal water funding. This is why only adults should be allowed to run a city. Let’s imagine that Eddie Bernice, who is pro-Trinity, answered the question in the reverse: “Yes, if there’s referendum Dallas will lose any hope of getting the federal dollars I’m seeking.” In Washington, her committee chairman’s next words would have been, “Why, Eddie Bernice, I see you have a little problem back in your district with that money you wanted. So while you’re working on that, I’ll just go ahead and use it in my district, where the people want it.” When the referendum is defeated, and if the Democrats are still in control of the House, I’m sure Eddie Bernice could get us back on the committee’s agenda. In the next session or the one after that. So she did the right thing in underplaying the little brouhaha.
