LUNCH WITH RUFFIAN

Yesterday I got a call from Brian Wolk (yes, he called me personally – on my cell phone) and Claude Morais of Ruffian inviting me to attend an intimate luncheon with the designers at Stanley Korshak today at noon. Of course, I gleefully accepted. After all, who wouldn’t want to lunch with such talent. The designing duo were awarded the FGI Rising Star Award in 2006 and have been featured in many fashion editorials nationwide, including our December 2006 issue. The lunch took place in the European inspired “private dining room” at Korshak.

Crawford Brock introduced the guests of honor and pointed out special details of the room, including personal photos of the Brock family. Julie Silcock was the lucky gal perched between the designers, who spoke about how they met and their inspirations for the fall collection (think 1945-1965 beatnik). Silcok was the one responsible for gathering the group of twenty-six women and men for the luncheon that benefited Gilda’s Club. Bice catered the delicious meal that consisted of four courses, ending with a refreshing cup of fresh fruit and sugared grapes. Afterwards, the ladies headed to shop and admire the collection. Big hits amongst the crowd were a red trench , a blue jumpsuit, and grey ruffled coat. Key trends to look for in their collection include high-waisted trousers, sequined stripes, exposed zippers, ruffles, and leather. Stop by Korshak today to get a sneak peak of the collection.
