GARY GRIFFITH LIKES RUDY GIULIANI

Speaking of TV spots, Griffith’s campaign just sent out a release announcing that Griffith has cut himself a new one. In it he endorses Giuliani for president. Say what? From the release:

“I enthusiastically support Rudy Giuliani for President. Our country needs strong leadership moving forward. Rudy turned around New York City and he can lead our country in the right direction,” Griffith said of his commercial. “Rudy can get the job done for America like I can get the job done for Dallas. By getting tough with criminals, reducing taxes and inspiring our people to reach higher, we can turn Dallas around and leave a legacy of hope and opportunity for the generations to come.”

In related news, Darrell Jordan has announced that he likes Josh Howard. “Josh is really emerging as a star in the league. He’s wiry fast, and he can run the fast break,” Jordan said. “Additionally, he can pull up for the jumper or take it strong to the rack. Just like I can.”

Griffith’s press release goes on:

Griffith acknowledged the subject matter of the advertisement was a surprise to his political advisers and may surprise supporters and critics, but feels the stakes for our country are so high that silence or neutrality is not an act of leadership. “Candor and honesty about this important issue is not about politics. It is about principle. It is what we should demand from all of our candidates and elected officials,” Gary said.

Forget for just a moment the subject-verb agreement issue in that last sentence. So Griffith is saying he’s brave for endorsing Giuliani? In Dallas? I don’t get it. Did Roy Bailey pay for this ad? Or is Griffith just coattailing? Wick, didn’t you room with Griffith back in the day? Can you explain this?
