THE DMN PUBLISHER WAS SO NOT IN A HAPPY PLACE YESTERDAY

Several third-floor FBvians at the paper have sent along stories about a fourth-floor blowup by James Moroney yesterday regarding the computer meltdown that “very literally almost kept us from getting the paper out.”

Word was that he was on the phone with IBM folks in Colorado when he decided, “You know what? I’m gonna treat these folks like my children.” He then began screaming at them that the paper might not go out, that they’ve been dawdling for three hours, and that “You owe me a [Lord's name in vain] apology! I want my [same word] apology! [Eff word] you! I want my apology!”

It’s at that point, I believe, that Lloyd Dobler ran in the room, grabbed him by the shoulders, and yelled, “You must chill! You must chill!” Although, I’m still fact checking that last part.
