Jack Shafer over at Slate discusses the four possible time lines that explain what Kurt Eichenwald knew and when and why he paid/loaned $2k to the subject of his NYT piece. Shafer is not impressed or convinced by any of them. But then, Shafer has been all over the story behind the story since the original story ran.
