NO PARKING ON FLORA ST.

I decided to do a little museum walking Saturday morning, only to discover the newly posted “No parking” signs on Flora Street. I felt the cold, clammy hand of bureaucracy. Now that the City of Dallas has spent millions building and promoting the Arts District, its next logical move is to discourage people from visiting it. Of course, that’s not the intent. But it is the result. A second result is to make what is really a bustling little center of activity (at least last Saturday morning) look dead and lifeless. When will city managers learn that the traffic engineers are a city’s worst enemy?
