FINANCIAL TOMFOOLERY AFOOT AT THE DMA?

Breaking news: Robert E. Robertson, chief financial officer and director of finance for the Dallas Museum of Art, has been put on administrative leave in connection with an ongoing investigation into the museum’s finances. The museum won’t go into much detail, saying it’s a personnel matter. But here’s what I got from them:

In the course of the museum’s normally scheduled annual audit, we detected a business practice that we felt was improper. Since external auditors do not as a routine matter provide accounting research services, we have hired specialized accounting resources to work with our auditors and the appropriate trustee committee heads in resolving the issue. We expect this matter to be resolved shortly.

Developing.
