Disney much? Our gal Jenny Block does, and she saw a show last night. For Those Who Care:
Last night we took our six-year-old to see the new Disney on Ice show called The Incredibles in a Magic Kingdom Adventure. It was a hoot. Now, don’t get me wrong, unlike the movie, this is strictly for the kids. No grown-up humor or the like. But it was fun. (At this point, I have to tell you, if you don’t like spoilers–don’t read on.) The production values were incredibly high from a car and a bicycle built for two that drive across the ice to fireworks at the end of the production to a replica of the “It’s a Small World” ride, moving parts and all. The story is cute, sort of an extension of the movie plot, and somehow manages to include lots of Disney characters like Alice in Wonderland and Cinderella and many of the rides from the park like the runaway train, the tea cups, and the jungle safari cruise. Edna Mode even makes an appearance. (Although as much as I love that character, the scene with her and her Three Stooges like assistants was kind of slow. The kids in the audience, of course, were giggling away.) Anyway, with all the light effects, smoke, and fire, as well as nostalgic Disney World scenes, it was certainly worth checking out. Oh, and the Pirates of the Caribbean scene is pretty cool, complete with prisoners trying to lure the key-holding hound to let them out. All the kids get light up wristbands to help “save the day,” too–which our little princess thought was pretty nifty. And hey, if it buys me a few days of freedom from said princess asking when we’re going back to Disney World, it was well worth it. Bonus link.
